A Creative Walker’s Point Wedding at South Second
Abbie & Jesse | April 12, 2025 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Abbie and Jesse got married in Walker's Point—one of their favorite Milwaukee neighborhoods—in April, which marks the month they officially started dating and one of their favorite times to travel. Not too hot, not too cold, just right.
Two of their friends co-officiated the wedding, which was followed by a festive cocktail hour, tons of their favorite food, and a spectacular dance party. The whole day was deeply personal, creative, and so completely them.
How They Met
Abbie and Jesse met online in early 2019, right before Jesse left for Alaska for the summer. Abbie visited him there for their first trip together. They moved in that fall, grew even closer through the pandemic, bought a house, and kept traveling, hitting breweries, and doing photography for fun.
Then in 2024, they spent a month back in Alaska. While on a road trip to Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, Jesse proposed while hiking on the Root Glacier. It was perfect—secluded, spectacular, and they even took some of their own engagement photos.
Getting Ready + First Look
They started their day by getting ready + having their first look at the Iron Horse.
The Ceremony
South Second offered a flexible, modern space that allowed their design and storytelling to shine without feeling overdone.
Their ceremony in Milwaukee was co-officiated by two close friends.
Editorial Portraits with Room to Explore
Photography was especially important to Abbie and Jesse. They were drawn to an editorial, documentary approach—images that felt honest rather than overly posed or polished.
They planned many of their formal photos before the ceremony, with a few additional couple portraits at golden hour.
They explored several Walker’s Point locations, including Iron Horse, the Riverfront Boat Launch, nearby intersections, and murals—letting the neighborhood play an active role in their story.
Later, while guests finished dinner, they snuck out again for sunset portraits, adding another layer to their gallery without interrupting the flow of the evening.
The Design
Nearly every detail tied back to their story. Abbie designed all of the stationery, signage, and décor herself—weaving in elements from their relationship and travels. Table numbers were named after places they'd been together. Beer bottle vases and beer-can candles (made by a local neighbor and maker) sat on every table.
Their backdrop was a set of large photographs they'd taken throughout their travels—mostly by Jesse—with a central image of Denali that showed up as a motif throughout the wedding.
Their floral choices were especially meaningful:
Yellow tulips (the first flowers Jesse ever gave Abbie)
Irises and Alaska-inspired blooms
Forget-me-nots, Alaska’s state flower
Succulents, reflecting their home filled with plants
Instead of a specialty cocktail, they chose three craft beers from their favorite local breweries. Late-night snacks included pretzel bites with beer cheese—something they're constantly on the lookout for while brewery hopping together.
Speeches and Push-Ups
The party was a blast. Instead of endless glass clinking for kisses, they arranged with their DJ that guests would have to do pushups—accumulating in number each time. One brave, badass woman did it. She crushed it. And that was the end of that.

A Dance Floor with Personality
The celebration flowed seamlessly into a lively cocktail hour, incredible food, and a packed dance floor.
Final Thoughts
Their Advice
The whole day (weekend, really) was magical and fit them perfectly. They felt surrounded by love, excitement, and joy—and were so grateful for their crew of vendors and all the family and friends who celebrated everything that makes them, them.
