An Intimate Milwaukee Wedding at Movida

Sarah & Dan | September 27, 2025 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Sarah and Dan got married at Movida at Hotel Madrid—a place they've celebrated every Valentine's Day together. How perfect is that?

The Venue

Movida wasn't just chosen because it photographs beautifully (though wow, it does). It's been part of their story for years, so getting married there just made sense.

The dress code was semi-formal cocktail with no strict color palette. Everyone showed up looking like themselves, which was exactly the point.

Sarah wore the most whimsical pink shoes with bows.

Family flew in from all over the US for their early fall wedding.

How They Got Here

Sarah and Dan got engaged at Fright Fest at Six Flags. I love that so much—it's so them! The ceremony was about fifteen minutes with bubbles floating through the air. Sweet and simple.

Artistic Portraits, Not Staged Moments

They did a first look before the ceremony, then we shot relaxed couple portraits at the VRBO they rented just a block or two away.

As the night went on, we snuck outside for some downtown Milwaukee street portraits. The city lights made everything look like a movie.

Simple Details with Intention

They kept details minimal—just a few thoughtful touches. The florals were gorgeous without taking over the space.

The family-style tapas dinner from Movida was so good that guests stayed at their tables way longer than expected. Always a good sign! Their cake came from Sendik's and it was stunning.

The Reception

Great music, real conversations, and a packed dance floor all night.

Their advice? Pick a place that means something to you. Build in breathing room. And if you're even thinking about sneaking out for nighttime city portraits—absolutely do it. They're always worth it.
