A Black-Tie Christmas Wedding at The Pfister Hotel

Olivia & Taylor | December 23, 2025 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Two days before Christmas. Black-tie. The Pfister Hotel draped in holiday glow. If you're picturing something straight out of a classic movie, you're not far off—because that's exactly what Taylor and Olivia's wedding felt like.

They kept things intimate, elegant, and so perfectly them. Black and white palette. Candlelight everywhere. Their closest people all dressed up. And the kind of timeless warmth you only get from a Christmas wedding done right.

The Pfister Was Made for This

Honestly, The Pfister didn't need much help looking magical. The grand staircase, the Christmas tree in the lobby, all that historic charm—it was already doing the heavy lifting. Both the ceremony and reception happened in the Hall of Presidents, which meant no shuffling between venues. Just one beautiful space that shifted from vows to dinner to dancing without missing a beat.

The dress code? All black for guests, ivory for Olivia and her daughter. Simple choice, but it made everything feel instantly elevated and beautifully classic.

Getting Ready & A First Look

The day started with relaxed getting-ready moments before Taylor and Olivia met for their first look in the lobby. And then we got to use all the best spots—the grand staircase, the Christmas tree, those stunning second-floor railings, all the corners that make The Pfister feel so timeless.

They also made time for portraits with their daughter and a first look with Olivia's dad. Just a few quiet, meaningful pauses before everything officially began.

The Ceremony

The ceremony itself was short and heartfelt. Derek Dube officiated, and the whole thing stayed focused on what mattered—the commitment they were making to each other.

Olivia walked down the aisle to "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait, which was her parents' first dance song. She also wore her mother's ring as her something borrowed. Those little connections to family made everything feel even more special.

And then there was the backdrop. Through the arched windows, the city slowly lit up—violet dusk fading into twinkling lights—right as they exchanged their vows. It was one of those cinematic moments that stays with you long after the night ends.

The Details That Made It Personal

So much of the décor was created by Olivia's mom, which made the whole space feel deeply personal. She designed the florals, the altar, the dinner tables, the card table, the bar—all in soft whites and creams with roses and peonies.

The result? Elegant without feeling staged. Simple. Warm. Timeless.

Dinner, Dancing, and All the Good Stuff

Dinner in the Hall of Presidents felt effortless—candlelight and holiday decor everywhere, no long formalities interrupting the flow. Just laughter, music, and the kind of evening that unfolds naturally when people are fully present.

Olivia and Taylor shared their first dance to "Then" by Brad Paisley—a quiet, emotional moment that perfectly matched the tone of the day.

For a wedding intentionally kept small, the focus stayed exactly where they wanted it: on being present with each other and the people they love.

Why It Worked

Taylor and Olivia kept their guest list small on purpose, and it gave the whole day a different energy—relaxed, focused, easy to enjoy. Classic black-tie at The Pfister, Christmas lights everywhere, candlelight at dinner… it was elegant without trying too hard.

Proof that classic never goes out of style—especially at Christmas.
