Classic Winter Wedding in Randolph with Reception at Historic Waupun City Hall | Wisconsin

Kayla & Devin | December 13, 2025 | Waupun City Hall, Wisconsin

Kayla and Devin's wedding was the kind of winter celebration that just feels right. Elegant, deeply personal, and grounded in family and tradition—from getting ready on the family farm to saying their vows in their family church to dancing the night away at the absolutely stunning historic Waupun City Hall.

It was classic, it was meaningful, and it was so them!

Starting at the Family Farm

We kicked things off at Devin's family farm for getting ready and portraits around the barn. It's a spot they know well, so everything felt natural and relaxed. Their first look happened here too—private, unhurried... well, mostly unhurried. With temps well below zero and photos happening outside, Mother Nature insisted we keep things moving!

The Church Ceremony

Warm light poured through the stained glass, wrapping the church in a glow that made it feel cozy despite the cold outside.

The ceremony took place at Randolph Courtland United Methodist Church, and it was beautiful. Warm light poured through the stained glass windows, wrapping the whole space in this cozy glow despite the cold outside. The hour-long service was presided over by the church pastor with three readers participating, and the whole thing felt grounded in tradition and ritual—exactly what Kayla and Devin wanted.

One detail that really stood out: every guest received a purple flower during the ceremony. This allowed Devin's niece to be their flower girl while also honoring Kayla's sister, who had passed away and whose favorite color was purple. It was such a thoughtful way to include her in the day.

Kayla's veil was pinned with a piece of her grandmother's wedding veil from 1945. And Devin's mom? She did much of the sewing for the day. Family was woven into everything.

Portraits with Family at the Church

After the ceremony, we kept family portraits simple and efficient—focusing on the groupings that mattered most. The stained glass and candlelight in the church did all the heavy lifting in the background, and no one had to trek too far in the cold.

The Reception at Waupun City Hall

Then we moved to Waupun City Hall for the reception, and wow—what a space. About 100 guests gathered for dinner, toasts, and dancing in this gorgeous historic venue that managed to feel both elegant and totally welcoming.

Devin's mom made the cake. And not just any cake—a cake with a real, functioning fountain. Iconic.

For months leading up to the wedding, Kayla hunted down an eclectic mix of faux Christmas trees online. The day before, they set them all up throughout the space and wrapped everything in twinkle lights. Garland went up along the wooden banisters and railings—with more lights, obviously—and suddenly the whole place felt festive without losing its historic character.

The First Dance (and a Polka!)

On a whim, they moved their first dance up onto the stage. Behind them, the twinkling lights of the winter wonderland they'd created made the most magical backdrop.

One of the standout moments? The mother-son dance, set to a polka in honor of family roots. So good.

The dance floor stayed packed all night—helped along by great music, a spunky DJ, and a room full of people ready to celebrate. Both Santa and the Grinch made appearances later in the evening, which honestly just felt right for a December 13th wedding.

The Details

Design throughout the day leaned classic and restrained. Florals featured white roses, natural pine, flocked greenery, and cheerful red berries. Simple, timeless, and perfect for a winter wedding.

Instead of chasing trends, Kayla and Devin stuck with what felt right to them. That same approach shows up in their everyday life, too—as fourth-generation farmers, they're used to honoring places with history and letting them speak for themselves.

Why It Worked

Kayla and Devin put in a lot of work ahead of time, which meant that on the actual wedding day they could relax and enjoy it. The big decisions were already made, the details were handled, and they could just be there with their people.

It ended up feeling warm and festive, centered on family and traditions that don't go out of style.
